Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has stated Maldivians have now accepted Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) as a professional institution.
Speaking at the end of 65 basic training programme, Defence Minister Mariya stated Maldivians have wholeheartedly accepted the professional services of the army. She thanked the people for their sincere acceptance of the services of the defence force.
The defence minister remarked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih views the defence force as the main jugular vein of the country. The minister added the president had requested the benefits provided to defence personnel are maintained at a reasonable level. Mariya said the people sincerely accept the sacrifices made by defence personnel during times of disasters. She particularly noted the risk taken by the security forces to extinguish the huge fire that broke out in Male' City last September and the struggle during the recent flooding.
The defence minister praised the defence personnel who are willing to sacrifice the lives of their loved ones for the well-being of the nation.
