JSC begins investigating disciplinary cases against High Court Judges

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun investigating disciplinary cases against Chief Judge at High Court Shujau Usmaan and Judge at High Court Hussain Shaheed.

JSC also revealed investigations are underway on cases filed against Chief Magistrate at Hulhudhuffaaru Magistrate Court Ali Musthafa. JSC has now formed a committee to investigate the cases against the judges.

Furthermore, investigations are currently underway on cases filed against judges at Supreme Court, including Chief Justice Dr Ahmed Abdulla Didi.

Meanwhile, the committee formed to investigate the disciplinary case filed against Supreme Court Judge Adam Mohamed has dismissed his legal counsel, former Vice President Dr Mohamed Jameel Ahmed. The committee believes the appointment of Jameel as a legal counsel is not acceptable as it conflicts the interest of both the defendant and his legal counsel, even though Judge Adam Mohamed had now withdrawn himself from the case.

The committee believes appointment of Jameel was a deliberate act and a case of disciplinary issue which would be separately investigated.

The committee has asked Judge Adam Mohamed to appoint a lawyer and attend a session on November 4.
