Parliament of Maldives has passed Fathulla Jameel to be appointed as the Commissioner General of Taxation.
The nomination was passed with votes from 82 parliamentarians following approval from Parliamentary Committee on Economic Affairs.
The committee made the decision following an interview of the nominations. The committee also opened opportunity for the public to submit opinion on the nominations.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih nominated Fathulla Jameel and Ismail Nashid to be appointed as the Commissioner General of Taxation.
Former Commissioner General of Taxation Yazeed Mohamed was dismissed once President Solih ratified the Second Amendment to the Tax Administration Act, which stipulates the Commissioner General of Taxation must be appointed within 30 days from the date of ratification.
