Qasim trusts current administration, says JP will not be mistreated

Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Qasim Ibrahim affirms his party will not be mistreated by the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, noting the difficulties he had to face during the previous administrations.

Speaking on a programme aired on VTV, Qasim said not all administrations will treat JP and him the same way. He also applauded President Solih for his character describing him as patient, thoughtful and composed unlike the former presidents.

Speaking about the future of the party in Maldivian politics, the wealthy veteran businessman further stated JP is a mature and a strong political party in Maldives. Qasim expected the party to hold an extraordinary congress in the coming year with all members given the opportunity to contest for all the positions of the party. He added JP expects to be more productive and work with the collaboration of the people once elections are held. He also urged all members to establish party branches in all parts of the country before the internal elections of the party are to be held next month.

JP is one of the four political movements that forms the current administration in Maldives.
