Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has appointed Chief Financial Budget Executive Ahmed Saruvash as the Chairman of the governing board of Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA). The appointment for a 5-year term was made in accordance with the amendment brought to Tax Administration Act.
The composition of the governing board members at MIRA will comprise of seven members, to which the president appoints five members, finance minister appoints one member and includes the Commissioner General of Taxation, according to the latest amendments brought to the Tax Administration Act.
The new governing board of MIRA should be appointed within 30 days since the ratification of the new amendment. Opportunity has been opened to submit nominations for Commissioner General of Taxation and Deputy Commissioner General of Taxation on September 30 as part of the efforts to form the governing board of MIRA.
