DDCom to reveal details of Afrasheem’s murder in a week

President of Commission on Murders and Enforced Disappearances Husnu Suood has said details of conspirators behind the murder of law maker Dr. Afrasheem Ali will be revealed in a week’s time.

Suood affirmed in a tweet the commission will be ready to make the announcement within the coming week. Afrasheem was found brutally stabbed to death on the stairs outside his home in October 2, 2012.

Getting justice for murdered lawmaker and Islamic Scholar is a pledge President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made during his presidential campaign. The presidential commission earlier revealed that religious extremists were behind the murder of Dr. Afrasheem Ali and blogger Yaameen Rasheed.

While the commission has announced to reveal details of accomplices and culprits, Prosecutor General’s Office (PG Office) has explained the suspects of murdered journalist Rilwan Abdulla has not yet been forwarded.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih announced earlier that the case would be sent to PG by last week. The commission has not explained why the case has not yet been forwarded. Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office last month, President Solih said the report was concluded after probe into the case. He further said enough evident was collected to prosecute the suspects and accomplices.

The report compiled by the commission was also shared with the parliament, which details of the people involved in the brutal murder. The security forces also carried a search operation related to the probe in Male’ City and Addu City in addition to searching the sea.
