Male' Fire Relief Fund receives USD 155,000 in donations

National Disaster Management Authority (NMDA) of Maldives has revealed it has received over USD 155,000 in donations.

Speaking to PSM News, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of NMDA Umar Fikuree said the Male' Fire Relief Fund opened requesting donations to victims of the tragic fire incident in Male' is well received by the public. He explained that NDMA has received over USD 155,000 with the biggest contribution from Fenaka Corporation Limited.

The state utility company has donated USD 64,750. NDMA is accepting donations until Sunday. NDMA is also carrying various efforts to ease the impact of the fire on victims, in addition to launching a donation fund. The efforts include providing the victims with a temporary shelter, providing them with food and cloth. NMDA is also assessing other actions to be taken with the help of government authorities and non-governmental organisations.
