The amount of Cost, Insurance, and Freight (CIF) of imported good to Maldives in August has decreased by 22 percent compared to the same month of 2018. Although goods worth USD 272.8 million were imported in August 2018, the amount decreased to USD 214.34 million in August 2019.
Furthermore, the revenue received by the state from Maldives Customs Service also decreased by 13 percent in August. In this regard, although USD 19.55 million was received by the state last year, the amount decreased to USD 17 million this year.
Singapore, China and UAE were included among the countries that contributed most imports to Maldives. Each of the three countries contributed 14 percent of the total imports. Most imports to Maldives were food products, machinery and fuel.
