President of Employment Tribunal of Maldives resigns from the position

President of Employment Tribunal of Maldives Ahmed Shifau has submitted his resignation.

Although, Shifau has resigned from Employment Tribunal of Maldives, the reasons behind his resignation are not clear. Shifau was appointed as the president of Employment Tribunal of Maldives in March 2018 during the presidency of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. His appointment came following the appointment of former President of Employment Tribunal of Maldives Hussain Faaiz Rashaad as a judge at the Civil Court.

The Employment Tribunal of the Maldives was established in December 2008 pursuant to the Employment Act 2008 and is composed of 7 members who are appointed to the post by the President of the Maldives.
