Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has begun investigating complaints against 3 judges at the Supreme Court, including Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi.
JSC revealed it has received 2 complaints against Judge Adam Mohamed Abdulla, Judge Abdulla Areef and the Chief Justice at the Supreme Court. To continue the investigations, JSC has formed a committee which includes Vice President of the commission Masthoor Husny, commission members Abdul Rauf Ibrahim, Mohamed Easa Fulhu, Hisaan Hussain, Abdul Hannaan Ahmed, President of Civil Service Commission Dr. Ali Shameem and Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath.
JSC opened new investigations on judges at the Supreme Court, while it has been conducting an investigation involving 3 judges from the bench. The initial investigation was launched against Chief Justice Dr. Ahmed Abdulla Didi, Judge Adam Mohamed Abdulla and Judge Abdulla Areef for issuing a court order on February 1, 2019 calling to free political prisoners, and later cancelling the order. JSC believes the act is a breach of disciplinary conduct of the judges.
Furthermore, citing corruption and bribery, JSC has decided to submit a motion to the parliament to remove Judge Abdulla Didi from the Supreme Court bench.
