ECM calls on observers to apply for necessary permits

Elections Commission of Maldives (ECM) has opened opportunity for candidate representatives, who wish to monitor the polling process at prisons, resorts and industrial areas in the upcoming parliamentary elections, to obtain the necessary permits.

Candidate representatives can operate at the polling stations in prisons, resorts and industrial areas with a necessary permit, according to ECM. The permit will be issued only if the relevant letter is sent to ECM before March 31.

In February, ECM opened opportunity for candidate representatives, party officials, local and international observers and monitors to apply for permits to observe and monitor the April 6 polls. A total of 501 ballot boxes would be placed across the country and overseas for the parliamentary elections.
