SAWEN holds fifth meeting of its executive committee in Maldives

South Asian Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) has held the fifth meeting of its executive committee in Maldives. The meeting was inaugurated by Minister of State for Environment Dr. Abdulla Naseer.

Speaking at the meeting, the state minister said at global and regional level, Maldives is committed to conservation of the environment, biodiversity, including protection of species and areas of significance.

South Asia Wildlife Enforcement Network (SAWEN) is an inter-governmental wildlife law enforcement support body of South Asian countries. SAWEN promotes regional cooperation to combat wildlife crime in South Asia.

The main aim of SAWEN is to strengthen, promote and co-ordinate regional co-operation for curbing illegal wildlife trade that threatens the wild flora and fauna of South Asia.

The one-day meeting will decide the venue and date of the next executive meeting.
