IMO to support Maldives through providing technical assistance and funding opportunities

International Organisation for Migration (IMO) has assured support to Maldives through providing technical assistance and funding opportunities.

During the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the newly appointed Chief of Mission of the International Organisation for Migration (IMO) Sarat Dash to present his credentials, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives Abdulla Shahid reiterated support towards effective migration management, combatting trafficking in persons and ensuring the human rights of migrant workers.

Maldives became a member of IOM on August 5, 2011 and the country office in Maldives was established in April 2013. IOM has provided support to understand the gaps and strengthen border control and migration management and is committed to strengthening its engagement with the government in the months ahead.
