Satisfactory changes to be brought to electricity tariffs

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has revealed satisfactory changes will be brought to the electricity tariffs in a near future.

Addressing a campaign gathering held by Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) at Komandoo in Shaviyani Atoll, President Solih said discussions are underway with relevant authorities to reduce electricity tariffs. In this regard, he stated discussions were held with State Electric Company Limited (STELCO) and Fenaka Corporation Limited last week, adding both entities shared their policies with him. He expressed acceptable changes will be brought to the prices of electricity service.

Reducing electricity tariffs is a pledge included in 100-day pledge policy of the administration. Speaking at the ceremony, the president stated the administration has made remarkable achievements in ensuring basic necessities, since assuming office on November 17, 2018.
