Deputy Prosecutor General Mariyam Nihaayath has resigned from the position.
Prosecutor General's Office confirmed her resignation although no further details were revealed.
Mariyam Nihayath was appointed as Deputy Prosecutor General on January 17, 2016. The appointment was made following the amendment brought, to appoint two members to assist the Prosecutor General.
Following her resignation of Nihayath, Deputy Prosecutor General Mahmood Saleem has been appointed to oversee her responsibilities as well.
