Civil Court dismisses case regarding the constituencies in Addu city

Civil Court of Maldives has dismissed the case submitted at the court, seeking to increase the number of constituencies in Addu City for the upcoming parliamentary election.

The case was filed by former Attorney General Husnul Suood and Mumthaaz Ali. They claimed that interests of the Maradhoo Feydhoo constituents are neglected when considered a part of the Meedhoo constituency.

The plaintiffs have, in this regard, requested to declare Maradhoo Feydhoo as a separate electoral constituency. In addition, the plaintiffs requested a stay order to halt any activities related to the parliamentary election in Addu City until a verdict is issued in the case.

Civil Court dismissed the case stating that it did not fall within the court's jurisdiction. High Court also cited the same, when the court rejected the case.
