507 ballot boxes to be kept for parliamentary elections

Elections Commission has revealed 507 ballot boxes would be kept for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Spokesperson and member of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram said the number of ballot boxes increased, compared to the last presidential election, as the electoral body limited the maximum number of votes that can be cast to each ballot box to 1,100. The decision was made to decrease the time it takes to vote and to avoid overcrowding the ballot stations, according to the Elections Commission.

The 507 ballot boxes to be kept for the parliamentary elections is an increase of 35 ballot boxes kept for the presidential election held last September. Ballot boxes will be kept in all inhabited islands, 39 resorts and 7 countries for the parliamentary elections to be held on April 6.

The electoral body said 264,589 people are eligible to vote in the parliamentary elections.
