Discussions held with Egypt to enhance religious activities in Maldives

Maldives held discussions with Egypt to enhance religious activities.

Speaking to media upon conclusion of the trip to Egypt, Chief of Staff at President's Office Ali Zahir revealed major discussions were held with Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Maldives and Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Egypt on protecting the Islamic religion and to aware the citizens on Islamic principles. He revealed efforts will be enhanced to strengthen the fight against extremism of all forms.

Meanwhile, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali led the delegation as a special envoy of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. She was accompanied by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and Chief of Staff at the President's Office Ali Zahir.

During the trip, the delegation met with Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb. The main aim of the three-day trip was to find a solution to the shortage of teachers in Arabiyya School, according to education ministry.

Moreover, the ministerial delegation met with Maldivian students residing in Egypt and inquired about the challenges faced for them. The education ministry added discussions were held with religious scholars on maintaining the Islamic policies in Maldives.

Furthermore, focused discussions were held on enhancing the education sector, especially Islamic education in Maldives.
