Maldives sign an agreement with UAE on enhancing defence ties

Maldives have signed an agreement with UAE on enhancing defence ties, countering terrorism and violent extremism. The agreement was signed by Minister of Defence of Maldives Mariya Ahmed Didi and Executive Director of Hedayah, a centre countering violent extremism, Maqsoud Kruse. The agreement was signed as part of the official visit of Minister Mariya to UAE.

During her visit to UAE, Minister Mariya held discussions with Executive Director of Hedayah Maqsoud Kruse and Minister of State for Defence Mohammed bin Ahmad Al Bawardi and discussed cooperation in areas of defence, counter terrorism and de-radicalisation.

Defence Minister Mariya arrived in UAE on an invitation from Vice President of UAE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Rashid Al-Makhtoum.
