ACC members did not benefit from MMPRC corruption scandal

Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) says the investigation to the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) did not show any members of the commission or their families received any payoffs.

In a 7-page statement, ACC refuted rumours that its members and their families benefited from the corruption scandal, adding the investigation on one of the largest corruption case in the country was conducted independently. The statement further said the commission received no reports any members or their families received any benefit from the scandal.

ACC also revealed several cases to raise charges against the individuals involved in the scandal were forwarded to Prosecutor General’s Office on August 10, 2017, adding the public prosecutor failed to take any action.

The commission further assured it has not held any information from the authorities or the public, revealing the investigative report on MMPRC was sent to the Prosecutor General’s Office on July 13, 2017. ACC made the report public on February 14, 2019, assuring no changes were brought to the report before it was published.
