Police investigating money laundering allegations against ACC President

Maldives Police Service has begun investigating money laundering allegations against President of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Hassan Luthufee.

Police revealed the investigation is being carried out following a case reported by relevant authorities alleging the head of ACC conducted money laundering activities along with several others.

Speaking to PSM News, acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed revealed some key figures are being investigated.

Following the report published by ACC on the corruption scandal of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), police have summoned several people and questioned them. However, Luthufee has not been summoned yet.

Members of ACC have faced criticism following the publication of the investigation report. ACC began investigating the MMPRC corruption scandal in 2015 and published the 759-page investigation report recently. However, the public criticised the report was incomplete.
