Defence Minister assures of no secretive agreements with India

Minister of Defence Mariya Ahmed Didi has assured no secretive agreements were made or signed during her official visit to India. Rumours are spread alleging the defence minister signed agreements with India which will demean the sovereignty of the country.

Noting the trip was an official visit, Minister Mariya reiterated no agreements were made which will disrupt the peace and sovereignty of Maldives. The minister highlighted the one-week official visit was every successful. In this regard, she said discussions were mainly focused on continuing projects which were disordered in the past presidency.

In an interview to an Indian news outlet during her trip, Mariya said there are no reasons why Maldives should seek military assistance from any other country, when India is ever-ready to assist Maldives.
