Maldives describes India as a stalwart example for democracy

Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has described India as a stalwart example for democracies around the world. The foreign minister made the remarks at the greeting message send to Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj on the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Republic Day of India.

In the message, Minister Shahid extended warm greetings and sincere good wishes to his counterpart, the government and the people of India, on the joyous occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the Republic Day of India. He further stated the underlying principles of equal rights, justice and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of India are sentiments and principles Maldives share, adding shared values are the foundation of the strong bilateral relationship between both countries.

Furthermore, the foreign minister added relations between Maldives and India are better than ever before, highlighting the bilateral and commercial ties are strengthening day-by-day. Moreover, noting the dynamic people-to-people ties complement the strong cooperation between the two countries, the foreign minister expressed confidence that as partners in development and good neighbours, the friendship between the two countries will continue to grow for the mutual benefit of the two peoples.

On conclusion, Minister Shahid conveyed hope for the continued progress and prosperity of the friendly people of India.
