Will find solutions to problems shared by island councils: President

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured efforts are being exerted to finding solutions to problems shared by island councils. The president gave the assurance at the meeting held with council members of Maavashu Island Council, as part of his visit to Laamu Atoll.

Speaking at the meeting, the president shed light on the importance of the councils to work hand in hand with the administration in finding solutions to the problems and in bringing development to the community. During the meeting, the members of the council briefed the president on the administration of the council and moreover informed him on the challenges faced in carrying out the mandate of the council.

Further, the council also briefed the president on the aspiration and requests of the people of Maavashu in developing the community. In this regard, discussions were held on solving the housing problem, creating more job opportunities by investing in tourism in the area, solving the difficulties in the education sector, developing the health sector and investing in sports in the island.

The council members of Maavashu gave assurance to the president they would work together with the administration for the greater benefit of the people.
