Economic Minister asks to form minimum wage board

Minister of Economic Development Fayyaz Ismail has advised President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to form the minimum wage board.

Noting he has requested President Solih to form a board to designate a minimum wage, economic minister expressed hope to decide on a minimum wage policy which will be beneficial to everyone. The advisory board which will be formed under the employment act will assess the works the done by a staff and decide on a minimum rate as salary for the particular post.

The minimum wage board will comprise of 5 appointed members by president, according to the employment act. Designating a minimum wage for jobs is an electoral pledge of the president.
