USD 155 million unpaid to state owned enterprises & private companies

Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer has revealed outstanding payments for services provided to the government by state owned enterprises and private companies amount to over USD 155 million.

Speaking to media regarding the financial status of the country, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer noted the increasing amount of outstanding payments owed by the government. In this regard, Minister Ameer revealed USD 51.7 million is owed by the government to services provided by the private industry, with several millions more unpaid to state owned enterprises.

Meanwhile, according to finance ministry, loans taken by the government from foreign countries and parties total up to USD 3.237 billion.
