President ratifies Third Amendment to the Constitution and Fifth Amendment to GST Bill

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has ratified the Third Amendment to the Constitution of the Republic of Maldives. As per the amendment, Article 109 (c) now states the age qualification for election as president is to be at least thirty-five years of age.

Furthermore, President Solih also ratified the Fifth Amendment to the Goods and Services Tax Act. Following this amendment, feminine hygiene products such as sanitary napkin, tampon, and menstrual cup, now come under zero-rated, essential goods.

Both the amendments were passed by the Parliament on November 28, at the 15th sitting of the third session. Upon ratification, the Act has been published in the ‎Government Gazette.‎
