Youth drives developmental projects: Economic Minister

Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed has stated that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom assumed office in 2013 with the vision to make Maldivian youth, the drivers of various development projects in Maldives.

Answering a question on the effects of the State of Emergency on the Maldivian economy, Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed said with the development projects ushered in by President Yameen, all citizens should have trust and faith in him in handling this situation. In this regard Economic Minister stated that no leader would willingly declare a State of Emergency but the circumstances created by the opposition left no other choice, in order to establish peace and harmony in the nation.

Minister Saeed said that the opposition has been spreading baseless rumors to tarnish the image of the cordial and friendly relations shared between China and Maldives. In this regard, the Economic Minister assured that the free trade agreement established between both nations would bring a prosperous future for all citizens.

Continuing on, the Maldivian Economic Minister cited that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom assumed office in 2013 with a vision to make the Maldivian youth the drivers of the various development projects brought in by his administration. Minister Saeed emphasized that the administration believes that the youth would bring new and fresh perspective to carry the nation forward. He further called on all Maldivian youth to take up their responsibility in preserving the principles of the nation such as independence, religion and peace.

The Maldivian Economic Minister revealed that with the major housing projects carried out by the administration, positive end effects would be reflected in the changes in the rent prices in Male' city. The Minister said that the mega housing project "Hiya" being implemented as part of Phase II of the Hulhulamale' development project, is expected to bring revolutionary changes to this sector.

"The Dialogue" is an initiative by the Ministry of Economic Development and Public Service Media (PSM) which brings forth prominent personalities and provides the Maldivian youth a platform to interact. In the first episode of the programme, Minister Mohamed Saeed was joined at the panel by Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim.
