Dr. Rafiyya elected as Vice President of IYC

Newly elected Vice President of the International Youth Committee (IYC) Dr. Aishath Rafiyya has stated that, in her capacity as Vice President of the IYC, her focus would be on empowering the youth of Maldives and South Asia and to working towards youth development. She made the statement in an exclusive interview with PSM News after being elected, unanimously, as the Vice President of IYC.

Dr. Rafiyya said, she considers this an opportunity to strengthen the NGO, Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (RAFY), via opportunities in the international arena for members of RAFY. Noting that IYC is an organization that works expansively towards youth development, Dr. Rafiyya said that the organization would provide ample opportunities for youth to get practical experience from the international community.

Dr. Rafiyya will Dr. Aishath Rafiyya will serve as Vice President of IYC till the next World Youth General Assembly in 2018. As a National Youth Award winner for Volunteerism, Rafiyya is known for her contribution to social and voluntary service and is the Founding President of the Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (RAFY) the first international NGO established in the Maldives.  She has also served as the Deputy Chef de Mission (DCM) at the Embassy of Maldives, Dhaka under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Maldives.
