Housing for youth was high on the agenda in talks with China

Minister of Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has stated that housing for youth was high on the agenda during negotiations held during the state visit of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom and First Lady Fathimath Ibrahim to China.

The Housing Minister highlighted that China has been a steadfast partner in the development of Maldives; especially in the construction industry.

The minister referred to the 1500 housing units built by the government back in the year 2014 and stated that under this project housing units were built in Hulhumale' and seven islands in the Sothern atolls.

In addition Minister Muizzu highlighted the 1000 housing units built under Chinese aid under the "Veshi Fahi" programme back in 2012.

During President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's State Visit to China, the President held discussions with Chinese entrepreneurs and officials of Chinese banks.

In these meetings, information was exchanged on the rapid progress of Maldives over the past few years highlighting the various business opportunities Maldives has to offer to the Chinese market.

In the meetings, Chinese entrepreneurs expressed keen interest in investing and carrying out projects in Maldives.
