The new Ambassador of Peru pays a courtesy call on FonSec

The newly appointed Ambassador of Peru to Maldives Jorge Castañeda Mendez paid a courtesy call on Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Foreign Secretary of Maldives.

The Foreign Secretary and Ambassador discussed the bilateral relations between the Maldives and Peru, and ways of further strengthening the existing ties. The Ambassador assured his commitment to working with the Government in strengthening the relations between the two countries and guaranteed Peru’s cooperation in the international arena.

The meeting was attended by Assistant Director Rishfa Rasheed of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Carlos Jimenez, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Peru Embassy in New Delhi.

Mr. Jorge Castañeda Mendez presented his letter of Credence to President Yameen yesterday morning at the President’s Office. He is the non-resident Ambassador and is based in New Delhi. The Maldives and Peru established diplomatic relations on 6 February 1989.
