Asian Vision Network AVN coordinators meeting concludes

Asian Vision Network AVN coordinators meeting held in Maldives concludes.

The 3 day meeting was organized by Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU) in partnership with Public Service Media (PSM).

The Asian Vision Network AVN coordinators meeting began in the Maldives on the 14th of this month, in collaboration with Public Service Media at PSM. The 3 day meeting was held at Radio Building’s Seneco Hall.

The meeting was concluded with an “excursion day”, in which participants were given a tour on development projects being conducted in the Maldives. As part of the excursion day participants were taken to development project sites and given information on the ongoing projects in Maldives. They were also taken to some historical and cultural sites of the country and visited Hulhumale’, and informed of development project conducted in the island.

Some participants expressed their view of the meeting held in Maldives, and thanked the organizers for the great hospitality offered to them.

The excursion day was ended with cultural boduberu performances.

 Participants from 24 out of the 32 member countries of AVN participated in the meeting held in Maldives. The ABU's Asia Vision Network is a daily TV news exchange programme, which provides a vital link for many broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region. Since its launch in 1984, the daily news exchange has been covering the major events of the day, providing a major source of news for its current 32 members.  Established for the free exchange of news among participating members, Asiavision has no commercial or political aims. Through its operations centre in the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, Asiavision members now exchange more than more than 17,600 news stories a year via file transfer.
