"Gov’t. will transform Addu City’s tourism landscape this year"

The Government plans to transform Addu City's tourism landscape within the next 12 months, Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer has said.

Speaking to PSM News about the preparations to commence integrated tourism infrastructure projects in the city, the Minister said “the Government has already identified areas for the integrated development of tourist facilities, and plans for these areas have been shared with the residents of Addu City”.  “Maldives Integrated Tourism Development Corporation (MITDC) is currently conducting necessary surveys to determine the number of tourist beds that can be developed in Addu City,” he added.

Minister Zameer visited Addu City on Monday as part of a steering committee set up by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to identify the challenges faced by the city’s residents.

He visited all islands in Addu City and discussed with residents ways to further expand tourism in the city.

During the visit, the Minister also met with youth groups and businessmen in Addu City and informed them of both employment and investment opportunities the projects would create in the city.
