Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has sent a message of condolence to Salahuddin Rabbani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan, following the series of blasts in Kabul, Kandahar and Helmand, causing tragic loss of innocent lives and grievous injury to many.
In his message, the Minister said: “It was with deep shock and horror that I received the news of the series of blasts near the Afghan Parliament in Kabul, an explosion at a Kandahar province government compound and a suicide bombing in Helmand province, causing the loss of many innocent lives, including those of foreign diplomats and injuring many others.”
“The Government and the people of Maldives condemn these cowardly acts of terror and acts of violence perpetuated against innocent people, in its strongest terms, the message read. At this time of national tragedy, I convey my heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, the Government of Afghanistan and to the families who lost their loved ones, and profound sympathies to all those wounded in the horrific incident. ”
