Maldives targets Italian tourism market at TTG 2026

The Maldives is seeking to strengthen its presence in the Italian tourism market, with 48 industry representatives from 24 companies taking part in TTG Travel Experience 2026 in Rimini, Italy, from 14 to 16 October.

The delegation, participating under the Visit Maldives umbrella, is meeting Italian travel trade partners, stakeholders, marketing agencies and media representatives to explore business opportunities and expand cooperation.

The three-day event brings together destination representatives and international travel professionals to establish partnerships, exchange market insights and promote tourism products.

Visit Maldives Corporation Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Abdulla Yasir said the Maldives aims to build on its longstanding relationship with Italy by introducing more travellers to the destination’s diverse tourism experiences.

He said the event provides an opportunity to strengthen collaboration with Italian travel partners and broaden awareness of the Maldives’ tourism offerings.

The Maldives is being promoted at a 96-square-metre exhibition stand showcasing the country’s natural beauty and range of visitor experiences. Participating industry representatives are also presenting their latest tourism products, resorts and experiences to international travel professionals.

The participation builds on Visit Maldives’ marketing activities in Italy throughout 2026, including a media familiarisation trip organised in collaboration with Alpitour and a joint marketing campaign with Sporting Vacanze.

Italy is one of the Maldives’ oldest tourism source markets, with Italian travellers among the first international visitors to discover the destination.

As of 12 October, the Maldives had welcomed 100,779 visitors from Italy this year, making it the country’s fifth-largest source market. Visit Maldives aims to sustain this demand by strengthening industry partnerships and keeping the destination prominent among Italian travellers.
