Health Minister urges health workers to make compassion the cornerstone to their service

Minister of Health, Family and Welfare Geela Ali urged health workers to perform their duties carefully and make compassion the cornerstone of their service.

She made the remarks while speaking at Villa College’s graduation ceremony.

In her address, the minister said the ceremony marks the successful completion of the students’ education and training and also their readiness and proficiency in healthcare, commitment to fair and responsible service, and desire for continuous education. She said the graduates’ education and training will contribute to improving healthcare and benefiting society.

Highlighting the important role of nurses, the minister described them as the backbone of the health system and one of the most trusted professions. She said nurses play an important role in supporting patients and their families with compassion, care and hope.

Addressing pharmacy graduates, the minister noted that they had received technical training in drug research and manufacturing and that their knowledge is not limited to dispensing medicine. She thanked Villa College for its contribution to developing human resources in various health-related fields.
