The Ministry of Education and Higher Education has announced that Grade one textbooks will be the first to undergo changes with the start of the upcoming academic year.

Providing further details on the planned changes, State Minister for Education Dr Abdul Latheef Mohamed said the changes to the Key Stage 1 textbooks would focus on thematically integrating learning objectives across different subjects.
He said the main purpose of the changes was to make learning easier for students, while also making it easier for teachers to deliver lessons.
The state minister noted that one example of the changes being brought is teaching subjects by connecting them to one another. He stated that this change would help students better understand and grasp concepts.
The State Minister said work to revise the textbooks was being carried out with technical advice and support from Cambridge University Press & Assessment.
He said the project was part of efforts to bring transformative changes to education and that significant changes would be made to the existing curriculum once the work was completed.
He added that the changes would also affect the way teachers deliver lessons, making it easier for students to learn and study.
The State Minister said the changes would first be introduced to the textbooks for Grade one students in Key Stage one. Textbooks for the other grades in the same stage will be revised in 2028, he said.
He added that changes would subsequently be introduced to textbooks for other key stages.
Training programmes for teachers in connection with the changes are also scheduled to begin this year, according to the State Minister.
