The Maldives National University (MNU) and Sri Lanka’s CINEC Campus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in education, scientific information exchange and research.
The MoU was signed at a ceremony held at MNU on Monday, with MNU’s Vice Chancellor Dr Aishath Shehenaz Adam representing the university, and Dr Sujeewa Polgampala signing on behalf of CINEC Campus.
The MoU aims to strengthen the education system of both countries and work together to improve and develop academic curricula.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dean of Faculty of Maritime Studies, Captain Mohamed Zaid said the MoU will bring numerous benefits. He noted that both MNU and CINEC Campus offer maritime studies, which makes collaboration between the two institutes easier. The dean said MNU had not previously signed a similar agreement with a Sri Lankan institution.
MNU noted the partnership as an important step as CINEC has a strong foundation in maritime education, with 36 years of experience in teaching maritime studies. The MoU is expected to strengthen ties between the two institutions and between the two countries.
