Government sets targets to keep athletes tobacco-free

The Cabinet has decided to set specific targets to ensure that athletes who participate in national teams remain completely free from tobacco use.

The decision was made at a Cabinet meeting, which also discussed key decisions related to raising public awareness of the dangers of tobacco and nicotine, implementing the generational ban, and other government projects.

In addition, the Cabinet has decided to expand the national campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and nicotine, with the participation of youth associations across the islands and organisations involved in sports.

At the Cabinet meeting, the Cabinet also reviewed the progress of the national campaign on the dangers of tobacco and nicotine. A subcommittee established to review cigarette import duty rates also presented an update on its work.
