Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has partnered with Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) as the aviation partner for the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026.
The partnership agreement was signed by Aishath Shirany Nasir, Manager of Business Development at VMC, and Nashaya Abdul Wahid, General Manager of Air Service Development at MACL.
Under the agreement, MACL will provide branding and promotional visibility at Velana International Airport in support of the World Travel Awards.

“As the Official Aviation Partner, MACL is proud to contribute to showcasing the Maldives to a global audience while creating a welcoming and memorable experience for visitors arriving through Velana International Airport,” she said.
She added that the collaboration reflected a shared commitment to strengthening the Maldives’ international presence and supporting the continued growth of the country’s tourism industry.
The World Travel Awards is recognised for celebrating excellence across the global travel and tourism industry, bringing together leading destinations, tourism organisations and hospitality brands.
Hosting the Asia, Oceania & Indian Ocean 2026 ceremony in the Maldives is expected to provide an opportunity to showcase the destination to international tourism stakeholders, strengthen industry networks and reinforce the country’s position as a leading global tourism destination.
VMC said the partnership forms part of its ongoing efforts to host major international tourism events, strengthen industry connections and promote the Maldives to audiences around the world.
