More than 350 applications have been submitted thus far to participate in the Maldives Expo 2026, representing an increase compared to the number of participants in last year’s event, the Business Centre Corporation (BCC) stated. The exhibition is organised to display the work of artisans from across the country, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises, digital creators, and innovators.
The current figure marks a significant improvement when compared to the 240 participants at last year's expo, officials at the BCC noted. Participants in the upcoming exhibition will be afforded the opportunity to showcase products and services spanning 73 categories within 16 distinct fields. The application window remains open through 31 August. Eligibility for the exhibition extends to a broad demographic, encompassing Maldivian citizens aged 13 and older, local businesses, government-owned corporations, educational institutions, local councils, and individuals with disabilities.
Because President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has designated this year as the 'Year of National Innovation', the stated goal of the Business Centre Corporation is to ensure the exhibition serves as the most favourable opportunity for local creators to market and display their goods and services. The exhibition is scheduled to take place from 23 to 31 October. Urging interested individuals to register promptly rather than waiting until the last minute, the BCC explained that applications can be submitted seamlessly through the expo.mv portal.
