Newly appointed ambassadors of three countries have paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam after presenting credentials to President Dr Muizzu.

French Ambassador discusses strengthening bilateral ties

Non-resident Ambassador of France to the Maldives, Rémi Lambert, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the visit, Iruthisham welcomed the Ambassador and congratulated him on presenting his credentials to the President.

Ambassador Lambert expressed appreciation for the warm reception extended by the government of Maldives. Both sides reflected on the longstanding bilateral relations between the Maldives and France and discussed ways to further strengthen cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The Foreign Minister expressed confidence that the Ambassador’s tenure would further deepen ties between the two countries and wished him success in his role.

Netherlands Ambassador discusses strengthening cooperation

The newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador to the Maldives, Wiebe Jakob De Boer, also paid a courtesy call on Minister Iruthisham Adam. The Minister congratulated Ambassador De Boer on presenting his credentials to the President.

During the meeting, Ambassador De Boer expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister for the welcome. Discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding relations between the Maldives and the Netherlands, with emphasis on cooperation in education, tourism, environment and economic development.

Both sides also explored opportunities to further deepen bilateral engagement across multiple sectors.

Minister Iruthishaam expresses condolences and goodwill to Philippines Ambassador

The newly appointed Ambassador of the Philippines to the Maldives, Nina P. Cainglet, also paid a courtesy call on Foreign Minister Iruthisham Adam following the presentation of her credentials.

During the meeting, Minister Iruthisham congratulated Ambassador Cainglet on her appointment.

The Minister also conveyed condolences and sympathy to the government and people of the Philippines following the loss of lives and destruction caused by the recent earthquake off the coast of Mindanao, expressing hope for a swift recovery.

Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening the close bilateral relations between the Maldives and the Philippines and explored areas for future cooperation. They reaffirmed their commitment to advancing a strong and mutually beneficial partnership through bilateral and multilateral engagement.
