Fenaka powers up islands with 21 new generator sets

In a bid to curb chronic electricity shortages across the nation’s scattered atolls, Fenaka Corporation Limited has this year delivered brand-new generator sets to 21 islands, with an additional 24 units now en route to the capital and scheduled for distribution in the coming weeks.

The recent shipments will bring the total number of gensets deployed by Fenaka in 2026 to 45, the company confirmed. Each unit is designed to provide a reliable, round‑the‑clock power supply, addressing long‑standing complaints from island residents who have endured frequent outages and unstable voltage.

For years, inadequate electricity has been a central concern for locals living in the atolls, prompting successive governments to launch various expansion projects. While progress has been made, many islands still experience intermittent supply. The latest influx of generation capacity marks the most aggressive single‑year injection of new equipment in the company’s history.

Fenaka has continued to reaffirm its commitment to a more resilient and trustworthy electricity network for all Maldivians.
