First Lady, Sajidha Mohamed, has stated that as the Maldives is a 100 percent Islamic nation, every Maldivian should hold deep love and respect for the Holy Quran in their hearts.
She made these remarks while speaking at a ceremony held to announce the results of a Quran recitation competition and a ‘Madhaha’ competition organised by Waste management Corporation Limited (WAMCO).
The First Lady noted that WAMCO employees play an important national role, and emphasised that efforts by the company’s management to nurture employees as individuals grounded in Islamic principles, good manners, and spiritual strength are commendable.
“As the Maldives is a fully Islamic nation, the core of every Maldivian heart should be filled with deep love, high regard, and respect for the Noble Quran. I appreciate the efforts by WAMCO’s management to develop employees into individuals who uphold Islamic values, etiquette, and spirituality,” she said.
She further stated that the Holy Quran is a source of enlightenment for the entire society and expressed appreciation that Quran classes have been introduced to enlighten the hearts of WAMCO employees.
Speaking at the same event, WAMCO’s Managing Director, Mujuthaba Jaleel, said that the company is working to complete a dedicated space for Quran classes by the end of the year, ensuring employees can benefit from such initiatives.
The Quran recitation competition held this year saw participation from 57 employees, including 10 participants from the atolls who joined online.Additionally, 46 participants submitted entries for the ‘Madhaha’ competition, with group performances submitted from five departments, according to WAMCO.
