Turnout nears 64 percent in runoff elections by late afternoon

A total of 3,832 individuals have casted their votes in the supplementary rounds of the Local Council and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) elections as of 03:00 PM.

Voting commenced at 8:00 AM today and is scheduled to continue until 4:00 PM.

According to the Elections Commission, the voter turnout recorded by 03:00 PM represents 63.88 percent of the total eligible electorate. This figure includes 1,924 women and 1,968 men.

This round is being held across five constituencies. According to the Commission, 6,093 individuals are registered to vote across these constituencies.

This includes 1,729 voters in Kelaa, 1,056 in Neykurendhoo, 441 in Dhonfanu, 1,556 in Maavah, and 1,311 in the Dhadimagu ward of Fuvahmulah.

A total of 14 ballot boxes have been established for this round, located within the respective constituencies and in Male City.

The Elections Commission has allocated two ballot boxes each to Kelaa, Maavah and the Dhadimagu district of Fuvahmulah, while one ballot box each has been assigned to Neykurendhoo and Dhonfanu.

In Male City, six ballot boxes have been arranged to facilitate voters from these constituencies. Ballot boxes for Kelaa and Dhonfanu are located at Thaajuddeen School, while those for Neykurendhoo and Maavah are stationed at Hiriya School. Additionally, the ballot box for the Dhadimagu ward of Fuvahmulah has been placed at Dharumavantha School.
