India has launched one of its largest naval exercises, involving various international partners.
The exercise is divided into three parts, beginning with the International Fleet Review (IFR). The event was inaugurated by Indian President Droupadi Murmu.
The IFR is an event that demonstrates the readiness of Indian Navy vessels and allied Navy and Coast Guard vessels to ensure maritime security. A total of 19 countries displayed their naval vessels during the event.
The Maldives also participated in the IFR, showcasing Coast Guard vessel Huravee. The vessel is a symbol of the close relationship between both countries.
The Maldives frequently participates in similar exercises conducted by India. The Maldives will join India’s Milan naval exercise starting on 19 February, aimed at strengthening cooperation, sharing information, and enhancing maritime security. The Maldives will also participate in the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS), which hosts high-level discussions on maritime security.
This year’s naval exercise is India’s largest to date, with over 70 international delegates participating in the exercise.
