Public Service Media (PSM) and the Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising the Maldives as the host country for the 21st Asia Media Summit (AMS).
The agreement, signed at the headquarters of Public Service Media, sets out PSM’s responsibilities in organising and hosting the summit, including related pre-summit workshops.
The MoU was signed by Managing Director of PSM Ahmed Shakeeb and Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), Philomena Gnanapragasam.
The 21st Asia Media Summit is scheduled to take place in the Maldives in May 2026, marking the first time the event will be hosted in the country. The Maldives was announced as host during the handover ceremony at the 20th Asia Media Summit held in Cambodia.
The Asia Media Summit, AIBD’s flagship forum, brings together media leaders, policymakers, broadcasters, regulators and industry experts from across the Asia-Pacific region. The summit serves as a platform for dialogue on broadcasting and digital media, encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange on technological developments and the evolving role of media.
Established under the auspices of UNESCO, AIBD works to strengthen public service and electronic media across the Asia-Pacific region through policy support, capacity building and resource development initiatives.
