Visit Maldives Corporation promoted the Maldives at the Travel and Adventure Show in New York, one of North America’s largest consumer travel events, held at the Javits Center on 24 and 25 January.
The exhibition, which attracts more than 20,000 visitors, brings together high-value travellers, travel advisors, industry professionals and international media, offering a direct channel to American consumers interested in long-haul and premium travel experiences.
Visit Maldives is taking part in the event in collaboration with the Maldives’ Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York. Visitors to the Maldives stand are being engaged through destination briefings, interactive digital content answering common travel questions, and a visitor survey aimed at understanding emerging North American travel trends. A raffle draw featuring holiday prizes from Maldivian tourism partners is also being held.
The Maldives’ participation has been further highlighted by the involvement of the country’s Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr Ali Naseer Mohamed, who spoke on a panel discussion. He outlined the Maldives’ global tourism appeal and its focus on sustainable and responsible tourism development.
Tourist arrivals from the United States have continued to grow in recent years. After welcoming 47,891 American visitors in 2019, the Maldives recorded 66,443 arrivals from the US in 2025, underlining steady post-pandemic recovery and sustained demand.
Visit Maldives says its presence at the New York show is part of a wider North American strategy, which includes influencer and media familiarisation trips, as well as joint marketing campaigns with travel agents and online travel platforms.
Officials say the initiative aims to strengthen the Maldives’ position in the US market as a world-class destination offering luxury, adventure and unique travel experiences.
