Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef has declared that the entire nation is in support of the national futsal team, and that every citizen is waiting for the team to bring the trophy home.
Speaking to PSM News, the Vice President said as is customary for Maldivians at each sporting event, the entire nation is together with the futsal team and cheering them on to bring home the gold. The vice president noted that the immense support the national futsal team has received through various social media platform across the country and stated that it is a clear reflection of the aspirations of the people for the team.
The Vice President added that the entire nation awaits the futsal team’s return to the Maldives, along with the trophy.
The SAFF Futsal tournament is a first of its kind tournament being held in Bangkok, Thailand. The Maldives’ futsal team requires just one win from its remaining two matches to be crowned the champions. Maldives looks slated to win the inaugural championship if they secure the win over Bhutan in the next match.
