Gov’t opens third round of Job Readiness Programme for people with disabilities

The Ministry of Social and Family Development has announced the third round of its Job Readiness Programme, designed to equip people with disabilities with essential workplace skills and employment opportunities.

The initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to foster inclusivity and equal opportunities for people with disabilities over the past two years, with over 350 individuals already benefiting from the programme.

The six-month training covers key areas such as workplace behaviour, teamwork, disability rights, and universal job skills, ensuring participants are well-prepared for employment. State-owned companies, including the Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), are actively offering job opportunities across various sectors to successful graduates.

Interested applicants can submit their forms via the Ministry’s social media channels, where a link and QR code has been provided. The deadline for applications is 12 January.
